Abstract
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways which is associated with airway hyperresponsiveness
leading to variable airflow obstruction. Inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) is the mainstay of treatment
of asthma. When optimum control is not achieved by ICS, long acting β2 agonists (LABAs) are used as
add on. But LABA, as a monotherapy in asthma, is strongly discouraged by all treatment guidelines.
LABA is to be used in combination with ICS.
Keywords: Asthma, Long acting β2 agonists (LABAs), Inhaled Corticosteroid (ICS).
