Frequency of Left Ventricular Hypertrophy in Essential Hypertension
Abstract Background: Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) increases the risk of ischaemic heart disease, stroke and sudden cardiac death. The present study aims to determine the frequency of LVH in essential hypertensive patients by echocardiography. Materials and Methods: This was a cross sectional study, carried out in department of Medicine of Rangpur Medical College Hospital and Hypertension and Research Centre, Rangpur during the period from 01 March 2013 to 31st August 2013. An essential hypertensive patient with voltage criteria of LVH on electrocardiography was included in this study.
