Asthma is primarily a chronic inflammatory disease that tends to present as a life long condition, with different severity degrees throughout the asthma patient’s life. It is primarily caused by inflammatory processes and bronchoconstriction. Inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs) are the main treatment for asthma and at low dosage, the side-effects are few. High dosage or long-term use of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) is associated with an increased risk of systemic side-effects.
