The interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) are a heterogeneous group of conditions affecting the pulmonary parenchyma and/or alveolar lumen. This group encloses several acute and chronic pulmonary disorders which share a sufficient number of clinical, physiological and radiographic similarities. ILD frequently presents with chronic cough which is usually dry and persistent.
