Bronchial Carcinoid Tumour: Usual Presentation Of An Unusual Disease

Abstract Carcinoid tumors are rare variety of neuroendocrine tumors arising from Enterochromaffin (EC) cells. Bronchial carcinoid tumours (BCTs) represent approximately 25% of all carcinoid tumours. They are divided into atypical and typical subtypes. Atypical subtype shows more malignant clinical and histological features. They often have a central distribution presenting with features of bronchial obstruction. So, in spite of being an unusual entity bronchial carcinoid tumour can present with common respiratory symptoms like cough and shortness of breath, making the diagnosis complicated and delayed.
