Bilateral Spontaneous Pneumothorax Complicating Miliary Tuberculosis in a Young Woman

Abstract Pneumothorax is a well-known complication of cavitary pulmonary tuberculosis but its occurrence in miliary tuberculosis is extremely rare and potentially life threatening that demands a high index of suspicion. Rapid clinical diagnosis is the key to averting death. This report describes a young patient with miliary tuberculosis whose clinical course was complicated by bilateral spontaneous pneumothorax despite ongoing treatment with standard regimen of antitubercular drugs.
