Abstract
Echinococcosis and/or hydatidosis are one of the most important zoonotic diseases in the world. In
Bangladesh, echinococcosis is not an endemic disease. However, hydatid disease of the lung is uncommon
and caused by Echinococcus granulosus. In this report we describe a 26-year-old male patient who presented
with massive hemoptysis due to hydatid disease of the lung. Although it is one of the less common causes
of massive hemoptysis, hydatid disease of the lung requires greater attention in countries, such as
Bangladesh, in which hydatid disease is less common.
KeyWords: Hydatid cyst, Haemoptysis.
